Conrad N. Hilton Foundation President and CEO Peter Laugharn recently spoke with Rob Harter, host of the Nonprofit Leadership Podcast, to discuss the history and mission of the Foundation. In addition to discussing founder Conrad Hilton’s life and commitment to philanthropy and Laugharn’s own career journey, the conversation narrowed in on one of the Foundation’s initiatives: solving homelessness in Los Angeles.
“People who are experiencing homelessness often get neglected – or deliberately excluded – from people’s gaze, let alone brought into meetings and planning,” Laugharn said. Having people with lived experience in positions to influence homelessness services decisions not only “makes sense from a dignity perspective,” Laugharn continues, “but also from a ‘getting services to work the way they were intended’ perspective.”
